OUR MISSION AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS UNITED IN FAITH:

--To proclaim the Law and the Gospel to lead people to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for life and salvation.
--To strengthen believers in faith and Christian living through the Word and Sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper.
--To equip believers as disciples and witnesses for sharing the gospel of Jesus with others.

WELS is the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, so called because its founders began their work in Wisconsin in 1850. Today it is the third largest Lutheran body in North America, with congregations in 5 provinces, 50 U.S. states, and with missions in 23 other foreign fields. WELS members work together to train pastors, teachers, and staff ministers; send missionaries into world & home missions; provide parish services to local congregations; and provide humanitarian relief. We believe that God has revealed Himself in the Bible. In it we can find all that we need to know for spiritual and eternal life. We are eager to spread the Gospel news of Jesus by every God-pleasing means.

WELS-Canada was incorporated in May, 1995, to promote the doctrine and practice of the WELS in Canada. We’re thankful for the following blessings through WELS-Canada’s ministry over the past ten years:

Greater awareness on the part of WELS of the opportunities and challenges we face doing mission work in Canada.
A Joint Ministry Agreement with WELS to meet requirements for sending our mission offerings out of Canada.
Co-operation with the Pastoral Studies Institute and the Congregational Evangelist Program – training programs of WELS Ministerial Education – has resulted in opportunity to train Canadian pastors in Canada.
WELS Church Extension Fund (CEF) loans and mission subsidy agreements are in Canadian dollars.
WELS publishing house offers WELS-Canada congregations a discount to offset dollar differences.
WELS-Canada distributes scholarship grants for students enrolled in WELS ministerial education programmes.
Outreach grants are offered through WELS-Canada for new and innovative evangelism efforts that involve members of our congregations.
Work on a tax package to help congregations & pastors dealing with CRA regulations & Canada-US tax treaties & laws.
National fellowship – encouragement & sharing ideas is being fostered across Canada.
