Cross of Life Lutheran Church

Cross of Life is for Parents! Parents have been given the privilege and responsibility to bring their children up “in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). Being a parent can be challenging at times. That’s why at Cross of Life we make a special effort to help equip and connect moms, dads, and other caregivers with the resources and training they need to fulfill their God-given role as parents.

God is serious about the spiritual welfare of both parent and child alike. He wants “all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth” (1Timothy 2:4). We are loved by God! That’s why he gave up his only Son, Jesus for us. And that is why he gave us His Word. In it he says:

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9)

In other words, God’s idea of training children in His Word is not just a once-a-week, Sunday affair (although that is important too). It is a 24-7 commitment by parents which begins in the home and permeates throughout their lives. It is our hope that this site proves to be a springboard for ideas, training, resources, and networking for parents who want to pass the faith on to their children.

Parenting House Calls

Our Family Minister, Kevin Walker, is available by appointment to visit parents in the comfort of their own home and share what the Bible has to say about the Christian Family and Parenting. He helps educate parents on the importance of faith nurturing at home and then provides initial training and resources on how to carry it out.
